At the fgm-dev meeting last night, we decided to tweak the structure of the FGMLUG.ORG site a little.

1. Argh...Real Lugs Do It Blog Style

We moved the meeting schedule to its own page and linked to it in the main menu. The front page is now a blog style list of short articles of a paragraph or two or blurbs linked to articles.

2. Name Search for New Section

We need a name for a new section containing howtos and Linux tips. On Fr. Robert's company site, he calls it "Linux Corner". FGMLUG.ORG is an entire GNU/Linux city so corner isn't apt. If you think of a name, let us know.

3. Photo Gallery

We looked at several photo gallery Joomla extensions and picked one to use. We also discussed the merits of slideshows for photos.

4. Next Meeting Teaser

The Upcoming Topics teaser is now Next Meeting. This gives more focus. There is a link (More...) to the meeting schedule page.

5. Meeting Schedule

The meeting schedule page will now include the topic for each meeting...if we have a topic. We will delete past meetings from the schedule.

6. Comments

Chuq volunteered to moderate FGMLUG.ORG so we can open the site to reader comments. We discussed whether to allow anyone to comment or subscribers only, but didn't decide.

7. Switching to FREEGEEKMICHIANA.ORG

After the next meeting, fgm-dev will switch focus to FREEGEEKMICHIANA.ORG. Fr. Robert has added some content and structure to the default template so we aren't starting from blank pages.
